The Rainbow Greenhouse of Your Dreams

I recently had the privilege of visiting the most incredible rainbow glass greenhouse. It is located at Parque Quetzalcóatl right outside Mexico City, and quite possibly the most unique greenhouse I've ever seen. The entire structure is drenched in saturated color, and yes, the plants are very happy.

THE ARCHITECT'S DREAM
Parque Quetzalcóatl is an expansive ecological park full of lush plants and otherworldly architecture. It was started in 2000 by Mexican architect Javier Senosiain, a pioneer of organic architecture. It takes inspiration from the Mesoamerican deity, Quetzalcóatl, a feathered serpent/hybrid of a bird and a snake, symbolizing the union of earth and sky. You will see this influence throughout the park in surreal and organic structures, mosaic-covered caves, and walkways.
The park also includes El Nido de Quetzalcóatl (Quetzalcoatl's Nest), which is a residential structure with rooms that can be reserved for overnight stays.
THE JEWEL OF THE PARK
While Parque Quetzalcóatl is impressive as an ecological park, the crown jewel (in my opinion) is the greenhouse. You can watch my instagram reel HERE.

The stunning structure is inspired by the shape of a snail. The curved organic shapes are apparent once you enter through the lower level, where you are greeted by a tranquil pool.
Like a true greenhouse, the structure relies on sunlight and glass to keep the plants happy. The rainbow glass makes the entire place feel warm and saturated with color. It feels otherworldly. The only other place I can compare it to would be the interior of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona, Spain.
You will walk through this greenhouse in the middle of the park tour, and it is easily where most people will spend their time. You will enter below and walk the spiral up towards the exit, mirroring the curve of the snail shell.
PLANNING YOUR VISIT
Parque Quetzalcóatl is currently not open to the public and the only way to visit is either by scheduling a guided tour (about 2 hours in length) or booking a stay at El Nido de Quetzalcóatl. DO NOT show up without a tour reservation or booked stay. You will not be able to get in, so please plan ahead. I recommend booking your tour 30 days in advance. The reserved rooms are few and always full, so the guided tour is the easier way to go. You can also email them directly at hola@parquequetzalcoatl.com with any questions.
The park's address is Retorno Villa Los Naranjos 15, Paseos del Bosque, 53297 Naucalpan de Juárez and is about 45-50 mins outside of Mexico City.
